Located at the end of Juulchin street, near Gandan Monastery this is a large busy market where you can buy all sorts of food and clothing. It’s situated just off Tumurchny Street in the Chingeltei District, it acts as a stand in to the Gal market which burnt down a few years ago. The first floor contains the fresh product market where you can buy all the standard fare from fruit to Mongolian sour cream. Also cakes, biscuits and sweets are on sale.

At the far end is where you can purchase fresh meat. To the left side are toiletries and a few CD shops. The second floor contains shoes and clothing – it’s very cheap but be warned…the author of this article won a ‘Worst-Dressed Person’ competition with clothing bought from these shops! The shoes tend to be ok here – you can pick up a pair of winter leather shoes for about $15. You can also pick up some nice camel wool clothes and a few household sundries like plugs, screwdrivers and laundry racks. Standard rules apply here – watch the valuables in your pockets and don’t bother bartering.
