This mountain is located in Sharga and Jargalant soums of Gobi-Altai aimag. People’s Great Hural (PGH) Presidium Resolution No.17 initially designated it as a strictly protected area in 1965.In 1995, it was approved as a strictly protected area by Parliament Resolution No. 26 to reclassify the status of protected areas. Khasagt Khairkhan encompasses 27,448 hectares.
