Although Mongolians are famous for their love of Vodka, this new brewery marks the increasing popularity of beer among younger drinkers. Statistics show that 93% of under-30s in Mongolia drink beer at least once every six months.
“We wanted Mongolians to start saying ‘In our home country we drink real beer’, instead of saying ‘We tried real beer abroad”, said J.Odjargal, chairman and CEO of MCS group.Over 130 Mongolian staff will work in the factory, and for the past 12 months they have been training with foreign experts from Singapore and Germany.
“Our new brewery uses stringent international quality standards and processes, as it utilizes the world standard technology of Heineken,” said Odjargal.
Tiger beer, originally from Singapore, has won many accolades including being a UK CoolBrand from 2004-2006. It is a flagship brand of Asia Pacific Breweries and is sold throughout South East Asia, the USA and the United Kingdom.
MCS is a leading Mongolian business group which is the sole franchisee of Coca-Cola and Procter and Gamble products in Mongolia. MCS is also currently working on the Shangri-la hotel development near Sukhbataar Square.
