Built between 1893 and 1903, the Winter Palace of Bogd Khan was the home of Mongolia’s last king Javzan Damba Hutagt VIII. Perhaps the most ancient musical instrument of the Mongols is the
"morin-khuur", invented at least a thousand years ago. In Mongolian,
morin means horse, and khuur means sound, rhyme, and melody.

Horse racing is an important part of Naadam. This sport is also centuries old, dating back to the Bronze Age. The horses are selected a month before the big day. They are taken to the adequate pasture separate from the herd and trained. |

Natural History Museum
This is definitely a place you do not want to miss out on visiting, you
can actually touch all of the exhibits on show including a large
meteorite sat in the middle of the floor and a Tyrannosaurus Rex
fossil! The museum is very popular with school groups and most visitors
to the country.

Bogd National Park. Lying to the south of Ulaanbaatar, Bogd Khaan Mountain has been a national park of the country since 300 years ago. The main entrance to the National Park is 46 kilometers to the south west of the city. Because of its religious significance this beautiful mountain has been untouched for centuries in terms of utilizing its resources and hunting animals.

drums and gongs. Mongolians have made their music through the ages
using metal, stone, bamboo, leather and wood. The most popular musical
instrument is Morin Khuur (horse fiddle) which is said to represent the
