Yesterday saw the premiere of the internationally renowned movie Khadak Of the Belgian/American director couple Brosens/Woodworth. The movie tells the tale of a boy, whos family is forced to leave their herding ground. The film won a range of awards including the Lion of the Future in Venice.

Both of Mongolia’s major political parties agreed to support draft mining laws this week.
The Mongolian People’s Revolution Party (MPRP) and the Democratic Party (DP) both offered support for the laws, which regulates large scale and strategic mining mineral deposits in Tavan Tolgoi and Oyu Tolgoi.

The end of the March tournament is nearing and the tension is getting between the wrestlers as well as between the fans.

A preliminary roster of Mongolian athletes chosen to compete in the 2008 summer Beijing Olympics has been released. Competing in competitive shooting will be O. Gundegmaa, Z. Batkhyag, and Ts. Munkhzul. Mongolia will be represented by B. Batzorig and B. Naranbaatar in free style and Greco wrestling.

Conservation advocates have expressed concern for the future of Mongolia’s saiga deer. The saiga worldwide population numbered one million some twenty years ago. Today, however, experts say only some 50,000 have survived due to over hunting and the elimination of their traditional breeding and migration routes.
