Mongolia Safety & Security |
There have been no significant acts of terrorism, kidnapping, criminal incidents, or extremist activity directed against foreign interests in Mongolia. There are no regions of instability in the country. It is not advisable to walk alone through the city after dark. The most common crimes against foreigners are pick pocketing and bag snatching. Travelers should be especially cautious when taking public transportation and in crowded public areas, such as open air markets, the State Department Store , the Central Post Office, and Gandan Monastery. Emergency Contact
In case of an emergency the first thing you should do is to try to find
a Mongolian who speaks English (or your native language) because almost
all of the people you will need to speak to understand only
Mongolian. To facilitate identification in case of an accident, prepare
an information page providing the name, address and telephone number of
someone to be contacted in an emergency and carry it with you. It can
also be useful to carry the contact details of your embassy with you. (See contact details of foreign embassies in Mongolia ).
