The Indian government has announced it will provide 5,000 tons of rice as well as 5,000 tons of sugar to Mongolia.

The government has announced a tender for the food with the winning bid being announced during the summer of 2008.

The program is sponsored by India’s State Trading Corporation. In a statement, the agency noted, "The government is in the process of delivering 5,000 tons each of rice and sugar to Mongolia, under the Humanitarian Assistance Program."

The bid specifications say the food shipment will have to be delivered to Mongolia by the end of August, 2008.
