The United Arab Emirates is taking steps to protect the rights of Mongolian workers employed in their country. In a move which could become a model for other countries, the UAE has finalized an agreement with ten Asian countries they currently accept foreign workers from, including Mongolia.

Canadian minister to visit Mongolia to discuss trade, investment |

Seeking to improve ties with Mongolia, Canadian Trade Minister David Emerson will visit Mongolia, as well as China, this week. Emerson’s visit to Mongolia is the first by a senior Canadian minister in a decade. While in Ulaanbaatur, he will meet President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Prime Minister Sanj Bayar and senior ministers to discuss Canada’s trade and investment interests.

On Tuesday, the Standing Committee on State Structure of the State Great Hural (Parliament) breathed with “election” as the Constitutional deadline of six-months prior to the election was about to expire in a day. Two different legal discussions were held: one, a draft law to run the next parliamentary election in a proportional representation system, and the other, a draft amendment to the current effective election law.
