Mining Draft Laws Continue Through Parliament |
Parliament last week (April 17) started initial discussions of the draft amendments to the minerals law in a meeting held behind closed doors for “national security reasons.”
Resolute Reform, a civil movement, organized a weekend public demonstration behind the State House demanding the Parliament openly discuss the draft with the public.
“What is important has been left by ongoing draft amendment,” Bat-Uul said.

Experts say copper prices to remain high for next two years |
Market observers believe Mongolian copper prices will remain high for at least the next two years. One of the main reasons given for the continuing high prices are delays to planned mining projects caused by increasing percentages of revenues being funneled off by governments in Mongolia and Africa. |
