The National History Museum is located on the top western corner of the Government building on Sukbataar Square. The museum consists of 10 rooms exhibiting various cultural rarities, from Archeological digs and finds from all around the country.

The cultural and political history of Mongolia itself are heavily featured in the museum making it hard to notice the great national pride, with which so many Mongolians revere their political and military ancestors.

This museum is a really interesting place to visit and all the exhibits are exquisite, which range from the drivers licenses of the first ministers to sit in the Democratic Government to ancient execution weapons used during the days of Chinggis! The first and second rooms contain perhaps the most interesting exhibits, showing examples of fine art, such as silver ware and tapestry to Mongolian script written on towering stone tablets.

The exhibits contain the various traditional dress from all the clans and tribes of Mongolia and explain the meaning and origin of many of the attire and accessories still used in everyday Mongolian life today, such as snuff bottles, hats and traditional ladies head dress. The dells on display have been meticulously handmade in order to depict the traditional majesty of these garments.

Dating from the days of Chinggis Khan to the end of the Socialist occupation and the present day, the museum goes a long way to explaining the development of Ulan Baatar and progression of Mongolian society, dating from the early battles between the first clans to present day Mongolian Society. Definitely worth seeing.
