There’s a second weekly train between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar (train 6 eastbound, train 5 westbound). Alternatively, there are daily trains between Moscow and Irkutsk and a daily train between Irkutsk and Ulaanbaatar (train 263/264). There are two trains a week between Ulaanbaatar and Beijing.

Russian, Mongolian and Chinese trains come from Moscow /passes through Russian several cities/ to Ulaanbaatar for three times a week, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Mongolian and Chinese trains come from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar for 3 times a week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Hi!!!
I am in China at this moment and am looking to travel to Moscow via the trans-siberian railroad in the coming weeks with stops in Ulan-Bator, Irkutsk and Yekaterinaburg. Is it possible to book at the individual stations as I may want to stay in one place longer than another, I do not want to be tied to a strict itinerary.
Any advice or guidance you can provide is appreciated.
