Goyol Fashion Show Next Month |
Mongolia's Goyol Fashion Show–2008, the most anticipated event in Ulaanbaatar’s fashion calendar, will this year be held on December 12. As usual the event will name the year’s best models, chosen separately from among both men and women, the best designer and also the top model of the year, the best of the best, as it were. Followers of the fashion scene look forward to these announcements, as do various sections of the trade and industry. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the show, which has been discovering so many fashion models who have then gone on to work and win acclaim in many other countries in Asia. They include such names as D.Bolormaa, D.Odgerel, T.Tsolmon, B.Tuyatsetseg, Kh.Undraa, T.Bayarzul and D.Purevsuren. Over the years they were all crowned the best models of the year. The Mongolian Designers’ Union organizes this annual event. An indication of its success is that new faces the show has discovered have represented the country in fashion shows and beauty contests such as Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Universe and Miss Tourism Queen International. There is intense speculation on who will be chosen the Top Model this year. The front runners are G.Oyungerel, who has been representing Mongolia in the Miss World 2007 in China, and M.Selenge, who was the best fashion model last year.

Experts say copper prices to remain high for next two years |
Market observers believe Mongolian copper prices will remain high for at least the next two years. One of the main reasons given for the continuing high prices are delays to planned mining projects caused by increasing percentages of revenues being funneled off by governments in Mongolia and Africa. |
