The opera and ballet spring season begins tonight, with the one-off performance of Cio-Cio-San adapted from Puccini’s classic Madama Butterfly.
The State Opera and Ballet Theatre will present the adaptation of the much-loved Italian masterpiece using Mongolian performers.

Giacomo Puccini’s classic love story stars soprano D.Tuya as the geisha Cio-Cio-San. Making his debut is baritone A.Sainbayar, playing the Prince Yamadori.

State Honored Artist N.Tuulaikhuu is joined with B.Damdinsuren. Ts.Baatarjav will be conducting, while D.Lkhasuren and Kh.Urnasan direct.

Canada to open trade office in Ulaanbaatar

Canada will open a permanent trade office in Mongolia to assist local Canadian businesses. Canadian firms have a reported $395 million in investments, including operating more than 20 mines. Canada is also Mongolia’s second largest investor.
