Mongolia is not a conventional holiday destination. Beautiful, bewildering and at times even frustrating, it offers travelers a vast, unspoiled landscape and an ancient and authentic culture. From the open steppe to the Gobi desert and the sophisticated capital Ulaanbaatar, there is much to see in this country.
Mongolian territory can be divided into 4 regions by their geographical location: the North, the Center & East, the South, and the West. Visiting these regions you can enjoy various natural, historical and cultural places. Largely unpopulated, Northern Mongolia is one of the most beautiful areas of the country with density forested mountains and steppe. The meadows in spring are blanked with wildflowers and the air is filled with the voices of migrating birds.
Central Mongolia with most diverse and accessible scenery includes portions of the Gobi Desert and the Khentii and Khangai mountain ranges. Eastern Mongolia is seldom visited, but provides vast expanses of rolling grass steppe, home to some of the largest herds of gazelle left on earth. With dramatic cliffs and valleys, rolling sand dunes, and forests of small but hardly sexual shrubs, the ancient Gobi is one of the worlds most unusual deserts. The vast expanses are infused with plant life, which supports the herds of animals raised by the nomads in this region.
