Enkhbold's cabinet resigns

PRIME Minister M.Enkhbold and his whole cabinet are resigned when the country's Parliament today approved his resignation by majority, 91.7 percent. Earlier, The Standing Committee on State Structures approved the proposal and sent it to Parliament on Wednesday for its discussion.

In his letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, D.Lundeejantsan, Enkhbold said, “The political situation in the country does not make it any longer possible for me to exercise my full power.”

Earlier on November 2, the Prime Minister met with President N.Enkhbayar to request that he be allowed to resign from his post.

Early last week, Enkhbold lost his position as chairman of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party. Its party congress elected former Secretary General S.Bayar the new chairman and also passed a resolution that the Prime Minister and the Party Chairman be the same person.

The ruling political force has called for cooperation from all political parties in Parliament on the formation of a new government.
