There are direct flights from Europe and Asia like Berlin, Germany or Seoul, South Korea and Osaka either Tokyo, Japan by Mongolian airline (MIAT) as well as Korean airline, sometimes via Moscow, Irkutsk, Beijing-stopovers both on MIAT and Air China. Travelers from Canada and USA are recommended to go through the Asian gateways.

Trans Mongolian Route - is not arguably the most interesting route. The weekly Trans-Mongolian (train #4 eastbound, train #3 westbound) train leaves Moscow for Beijing every Tuesday night. The 7,621 km (4,735 mile) journey takes 6 days. This train crosses Siberia, cuts across Mongolia and the Gobi desert, then enters China and passes through the Great Wall.

Every traveler arriving in Mongolia must complete a customs declaration, which should be retained until departure. This allows the free import and re-export of articles intended for personal use for duration of stay.

Mongolia is a country of extreme weather conditions. Depending on the time of year you go you should pack accordingly. For summer, it is rather hot, the evenings can get cool especially in the Gobi and mountains.
