Swimming pool

There are three swimming pools in UB, the best of them is situated on the opposite side of the river in front of the Sky supermarket and the Chinggis Hotel. It can be easily distinguised by the blue glass dome on the roof of the building. The pool costs around 3,000 tugrug per session and is a popular place to hangout at weekends. Health and fitness is becoming increasingly popular with young people in Mongolia and the pool can get quite busy at the weekend with children and teenagers going wild all over the place.

Costume and towel hire is available and you can also buy swimming costumes and other water sport equipment on the third floor of Ick Delguur and at the “Art Shop” opposite the Russian Embassy on Peace Avenue, all at reasonable prices.

The water is fine so theres no need to worry about accidentally bleaching your hair! Swimming is not so popular here, as Mongolia is a landlocked country, most Mongolians don’t bother concerning themselves with skills they don’t see any use for.

The other two pools are generally considered dirty and unusable, as some swimmers use them as bathing areas it’s best to keep the kids away from them or if you have a weak stomach.
